Fireflies

I’ve always been fascinated by fireflies. Tiny, electric creatures that turn themselves off and on. In a sense, humans are electric creatures that turn themselves off and on, but you can’t see the light. You can’t see if they’re glowing on the inside. Oh, but with some people you can! Those are the people I enjoy being around. They let their lights shine. We need more human fireflies shining their lights in this tiring, scary, frustrating world. When I was a little girl I caught fireflies in jars. Now that I’m an adult I don’t want to catch the human equivalents; I want to turn them loose for all to enjoy!
