Lifter of My Head

“Lifter of My Head”

(Psalm 3:3)

He lifts my head, sweet valiant One,

He who conquered life for me;

Never will I be alone,

My Savior is my only need.

He lifts my head from waters deep,

From that which drowns my restless soul;

Never will the darkness win,

My Lord of lords has crushed my foe.

He lifts my head and looks in eyes

That fill with weariness and yet

Never will His strength abate,

I lean on Him who paid the debt.

He lifts my head with gentle touch,

With hand that fastened to the cross;

Never will my spirit drown,

My King of kings has paid the cost.

He lifts my head and whispers words,

Words that comfort beaten heart;

Never will my wasted days

Point others to a life so dark.

He lifts my head and smiles at me

With tender look upon His face;

Never will I be alone,

My Shepherd guides me through this race.
