I’ve decided that a spiritual wound someone inflicted on me in the past will never heal if I am in that person’s presence at anytime. If the scab keeps getting torn off that wound, how is it to heal? In his devotional book “Alone With God,” Michael Warden uses Nehemiah 4 as such a good example. Using Nehemiah 4:13: “Place a guard over the broken places in your life. Do whatever it takes to protect your wounded areas from further attack. Give yourself the gift of a ‘safe place.'” Using Nehemiah 4:15: “What you could never do in your own strength, God is able to do through you, in His strength.” “God may use your hands to pick up the fallen stones, but it will be His strength and wisdom that rebuild the wall.” A safe place. A place guarded by Jesus. A spiritual emergency room where Jesus can heal the brokenhearted and bind up their wounds which is what He does so well. Dear Lord, I need Your medicine!
