No Room For the Word “Habit”

Okay, beside the word “just,” I believe the word “habit” should not be used in the Kingdom of God. Comments such as, “Oh, he’s out of the habit of coming to church” or “Once they get into the habit of coming to church” truly aggravate me. Going to church should not be a habit; it should be a heartfelt desire. If we are going to church because we’re “In the habit” of going to church, we’d better examine our hearts and ask the Lord to also examine them. We had also better take a good look at our relationship with the Lord. Are we in love with the Lord, or are we in love with a “habit?”  “I was glad when they said unto me ‘Let us go into the house of the Lord.” (Psalm 122:1), not “It’s a habit for me to go into the house of the Lord.”
